With over 12+ Beer tents to choose from you really can not go wrong! We went to 6 during our two-day beer extravaganza, and each was cool in its own right 🍻
While the weather was not the best for most things…for beer-drinking, the weather, was perfect 👌
An inside look at the organized chaos of Oktoberfest! 👀
Find yourself a table and within minutes a waiter (dressed in classic Bavarian attire) will promptly be supplying you with a nice cold beer! Watching them carry 8 of these at a time is quite impressive, as these mugs are heavy-duty, reserved the constructed for the loudest of celebratory glass clanks! 💪
Views of Pest - from the Buda side of the Danube
Blast from the past! We stopped by this exact location in Budapest to snap this picture back in Sep 2013
Flashforward 9 years! Lucky to have great friends. Time flies ✈️
Many of the buildings and historical monuments along the Danube - especially the Parliament building - are lit up at night and make for a magical view of the city
Szechenyi Thermal Baths were something out of a fairy tale! 20+ baths (indoor and outdoor) built within the confines of a castle-like complex - built in the early 20th century
Donahy Street Synagogue in the Jewish quarter is the second-largest synagogue in the world and the largest in Europe. In addition to having a large and thriving Jewish population for many centuries, Budapest was also the birthplace of Theodore Herzl- the founder of Zionism (whose house was right next door to the synagogue).
Behind the Donahy Street Synagogue (in the same complex) is both a memorial, graveyard, and museum - in honor of the thousands of Jews that were murdered in the Jewish ghetto (and the 500,000+ Jews that were deported from Hungry and killed in Auschwitz)
The Jewish Quarter today is the heart of the city’s nightlife and tourism. There are still many signs in Hebrew and a number of Jewish and kosher restaurants are still in operation
The first Matzah Ball soup since leaving the US 🤗
Shoes on the Danube Bank - is a permanent art exhibit installed in 2005 in memory of thousands of Jews from Budapest that were murdered on the banks of the Danube when the Fascist Hungarian militia “the Arrow Cross Party” came into power
Devin Castle - located at the intersection of the Danube and Moravia rivers outside of Bratislava, Slovakia. With a very long history dating back to the Celtic times (BC), the Romans, and the Hungarians, exploring the castle and grounds was one of the highlights of Slovakia
Funny street art in downtown Bratislava - The statue portrays a typical communist-era worker known as the “watcher” looking at people as they pass by. It is allegedly good luck rub his head 😇 🍀
